Colorado Candyland

Sheraton Downtown Denver recently hosted a competition for students at Johnson & Wales University that challenged participants to build an iconic downtown Denver building using gingerbread cookies and candy décor. Six students competed for a $1,000 scholarship and a pastry knife set.

First place went to Stephanie Gaines for her work on the Clock Tower (officially known as the Daniels & Fischer Tower), and Makenzie Parker finished second, taking on the daunting task of building Sports Authority Field. Other locations selected by the students included: Denver Union Station, the Colorado State Capitol, Wells Fargo Center and Larimer Square. The display will be up in the Sheraton lobby until Dec. 31.
